The IFSC code or the Indian Financial System Code is the 11 digit alpha numeric number which is required for all sorts of electronic money transfer within the country. The first 4 characters of the number is the identity of the bank, the next 4 character are the control character and the last 3 characters are the identity of the bank branch. Using this code while transferring money decreases the chances of confusion among branches in the same city or in different cities.
The MICR or magnetic ink character recognition is a technology which is used to verify the legitimacy of the documents of retail bodies or government or corporate offices and also to verify the cheques. A particular type of ink which is sensitive to magnetic fields is used in the printing of important documents. This checking minifies the chances of fraud and cheats and thus enhances security.
