Ishant Sharma

Ishant Sharma is a new bowling sensation in Indian cricket. Born on September 2, 1988, in Delhi, Sharma has caught world cricket by storm with his tremendous pace bowling. He has made a debut which is relatively early for a fast bowler. But with the amount of success he has had in his short career so far, Indians would have wanted him much early. Sharma played domestic cricket for Delhi.

Ishant Sharma's Career

Ishant Sharma made his debut as a replacement for Munaf Patel against Bangladesh in may 2007. He bowled an impressive 3 overs for just 5 runs without a wicket in his first test as a bowler. Sharma was then called when Pakistan toured India. He picked up 5 wickets on a batting paradise wicket which further cemented his place in the national squad. Brilliant performances against Australia in their home soil made Ishant an overnight hero.Ishant has picked up 12 wickets in 5 tests played so far. In ODI's he has picked 14 wickets in 10 games. Selectors and captain MS Dhoni are keen to retain this fast growing youngster.

Ishant- The Fastest

Ishant Sharma has bowled the fastest ball bowled in the history of Indian cricket when he bowled a ball that was measured 152.7 km/hr. He is also the first Indian to go beyond the 150 km/hr mark. Ishant's brilliant quality of swing with terrifying pace is too hot to handle for the batsman. Even cricketing greats like Ricky Ponting have succumber to Sharma's brilliant bowling.

Sharma in the IPL

Ishant Sharma was one of the most expensive players in the IPL. Following the tour of Australia, Sharma was immediately picked up by Shahrukh Khan to play for his team Kolkata Night Riders. He was picked for $950,000 ahead of even Ricky Ponting.
