Jo Paul Anchery is a professional football player from India. He was born on 29 May 1973, in Trissur, Kerala.

Football Career of Jo Paul Anchery

In the year 1992, Anchery made his debut by playing for the Indian Under-19 Football team. Since Then Anchery had never looked back. In 1993, he got selected to the Indian Under - 21 team in the Rajiv Gandhi International tournament. After showing a excellent performance in the Rajiv Gandhi International Tournament, he got a offer from the State Bank of Travancore. IN 1994, he made his debut in the Santosh Trophy and also got selected in the Indian football team to play in the Independence Tournament Cup which was held in Doha. Anchery was awarded as the "Best Player of the Tournament" in the Independence Tournament Cup and also joined the Mohun Bagan team on his return. In the same year he also declared the "Player of the year " by the AIFF. In 1995, he moved to JCT and brought success to the team. He also represented India in the Jawaharlal Nehru Gold Cup tournament and the Pre-Olympic Tournament for the Under - 23 team. In 1996, Anchery had a season long injury. But in 1997, he came up he was back with bank. He joined the FC Kochin and also represented India in the SAFF tournament. In 1998, with his pivotal role, Indian team was able to enter the semi finals of the Jawaharlal Nehru Gold Cup tournament which was held in Kochi. He also represented India in the Bangkok Asian Games. In the same year he also made the Mohan Bagan team to win the Santosh Trophy. He was also the Skipper of the Indian team at the pre- Olympic tournament and the SAF games. At present, he is the captain of the FC Kochin club.
