Kunwar Digvijay Singh

Kunwar Digvijay Singh was a famous Indian Hockey player. He was born on 2nd February 1922 in Bara Banki, Uttar Pradesh. Kunwar Digvijay Singh was popularly known as “K.D.Singh ‘ Babu’”. K.D. Singh made his debut in 1946 against Afghanistan by playing for All India Hockey Team.

K.D. Singh was the Vice Captain of the Indian hockey Team that won the Gold medal at the 1948 London Olympics. In 1952, he was the captained of the Indian Hockey team that won the gold medal at the Helsinki Olympics. In 1953, he was awarded the Helms Trophy for being the best player of the world. He received the Pdama Shri award in 1958. In 1972, at the Munich Olympics, he was coach of the Indian Hockey Team.
