Mumbai Airport

Mumbai Airport or Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport of Mumbai is the largest and the busiest airport of India. It is named after the 17th century Maratha Emperor Chhatrapati Shivaji Raje Bhonsle. The airport is located 26 feet above sea level and its airport code is BOM.

Terminals of Mumbai Airport
Mumbai airport has four terminals: two international and two domestic terminals. The international terminals are Terminal 2B and Terminal 2C and are located at Sahar, east of the suburb of Andheri. The domestic terminals are Terminal 1A and Terminal 1B and are located in Santa Cruz, East.

International Airlines at Mumbai Airport
All major international airlines operate from here. International terminal 2B hosts following airlines: All Nippon, Air Arabia, British Airways, Cathay Pacific, Delta Airlines, El Al Israel , Etihad Airways, Gulf Air, Indian Airlines, Iran Air, Jazeera Airways, Jet Airways, Kenya Airways, Kuwait Airways, Lufthansa, Oman Air, Pakistan Intl. Airlines, Qantas Airways, Qatar Airways, Saudi Arabian Airlines, Sri Lankan Airlines, Swiss and Turkish Airlines. Other international airlines like Air France, Air India, Air Mauritius, Continental, Egypt Air, Emirates, Ethiopian Airlines, Korean Air, Malaysian Airlines, Royal Jordanian, Singapore Airlines, South African Airlines, Thai Airways and Yemen Air operate from international Terminal 2C.

Domestic Airlines at Mumbai Airport
Domestic airlines Indian Airlines and Kingfisher Airlines operate from domestic terminal 1A. Other domestic airlines like Jet Lite, Kingfisher Red, Go Air, Indigo, Jet Airways and SpiceJet operate from domestic terminal 1C.

How to reach Mumbai Airport
Travelers can opt for local trains, buses, taxis or cars to reach Mumbai Airport. Nearest railway station from International terminal is Andheri (East). From here one can take an auto rickshaw for a distance of 3-4 km to reach the airport. Nearest railway station from domestic terminal is Ville Parle (East). To reach domestic terminal one can take an auto rickshaw from Ville Parle to cover additional 2 km. Buses also connect Ville Parle (East) to the airport. Mumbai Airport has ample car parking, so it is convenient to reach airport by car as well. Taxis are another convenient option, but they are most expensive means as well.

It is advisable to reach the international airport at least 3 hours before the flight timings and domestic airport at least 2 hours before flight timings.

Tourists can choose from a variety of options to reach their destinations like pre-paid taxis, meter taxis, three wheelers, local transport buses and private cars on rent.

Distance from Important Locations of the City
Mumbai airport is well connected to all major parts of the city. It is located at a distance of 32 kms from Bombay Hospital, Marine Drive, Taj Hotel, Gateway of India, CST Railway Station and Nariman Point and at a distance of 22 kms from Mumbai Central railway station, Haji Ali, Lal Baug and Worli.

Facilities Available at Mumbai Airport
Mumbai airport has many facilities like ATMs, lost and found, wheelchairs, inter-terminal transfer service etc. for the convenience of both international and domestic travelers.

ATMs are easily accessible at terminals and can be used for accessing any bank account. Terminal 1B has ATMs of Canara bank, IDBI bank and State bank of India at departure level and State bank of India at arrival level. Terminal 2B has ATM of Canara bank and terminal 2C of State bank of India at arrival level.

Physically challenged travelers can use the wheel chair facility available at the airport free of cost. Free of charge inter-terminal transfer service is also available for transiting passengers between terminals. Airport also has a lost and found. There is also a left luggage counter situated in Terminal 1B. Terminals 1B and 2B have medical facilities 24x7. Minors traveling alone are escorted by and taken care of by the airport and airlines staff till they reach their destination safely.

All terminals have excellent food and beverage facilities. Terminal 1 A Departures has Cupa Café and Nashta Chai. Terminal 1 A Lounge has Kingfisher Lounge, Clipper Lounge and Reserved (VIP) Lounge. Terminal 1 B Departures has Café Coffee Day Lounge & Restaurant, Costa Café, Baskin Robbins, Hog dog, Hot Corn, Balaji Snacks, Sky Bar and Barista. Terminal 1B Arrivals has Café Ritazza and Terminal 1 B Lounge has Oberoi Lounge and Reserved (VIP) Lounge. International Terminal 2 B Departures has US Pizza, Baskin Robbins, Costa Café, Nescafe Point and Wraps & Rolls Snack Bar. Terminal 2 B Mezzanine has Snacks Bar, US Pizza, KFC, Pizza Hut, Indian Paradise, The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf, Noodle, Bombay Blue Bar, The Coffee Club, Warpsters, Café Ritazza and Baskin Robbins. Terminal 2 B Lounge has Oberoi Lounge. Terminal 2 C Departures has Snack Bar and Café Coffee Day. Terminal 2 C Mezzanine has Celebration Bar & Restaurant and Duty Free. Terminal 2 C Arrivals has Duty Free and Terminal 2 C Lounge has Celebration Lounge and Maharajah Lounge.

The food and drinks offered at the airport cost much more than their normal prices. For instance you can buy 1 Latte for Rs.80, 1 cardamom tea for Rs.50, 2 pieces of Samosas for Rs. 100, 1 Pastry for Rs.60, one Masala Dosa for Rs. 100 and a Cappucino for Rs. 70-100.
