History of Nehru Stadium
The Nehru Stadium, previously known as the Club of Maharashtra Ground, is situated in Pune, Maharashtra. The stadium was established in the year 1969. It is named after India’s first Prime Minister, Shri Jawaharlal Nehru. It is a multi-purpose stadium where mainly Cricket matches are played and holds a reputed place among the famous Cricket Stadiums of India.
Previously the maintenance of the ground was held by the city Municipal Corporation, but now it is in the hands of Maharashtra Cricket Association. They are planning to do a make-over of this stadium for the upcoming International Cricket matches.

The Nehru Stadium is located in Tilak Road of the city Pune in Maharashtra.
Infrastructure of Nehru Stadium
The stadium has a heavy infrastructure with a capacity of holding 25,000 spectators at a time. This ground has two ends namely, the Tilak Road end and the Pavilion end. The Nehru Stadium is unable to host any Day/Night match due to the absence of floodlights. The ground is famous for its flat type pitch which provides as a huge platform for scoring more runs.
Outlook of Nehru Stadium
Nehru Stadium has hosted 11 ODIs till date, the first being on 5th December, 1984. This famous Stadium has already hosted 2 World Cup matches, one in the year of 1987 and the other in 1996. The ground witnessed one of the turn-over in the history of One-day Cricket, where the mighty West Indians were defeated by mere Kenya team.
The Nehru Stadium also hosts Ranji Trophy matches. Moreover, this ground serves as the home ground for Maharashtra Cricket Team which represents the state of Maharashtra.
The last one-day International match hosted by this ground was played on 3rd November, 2005, between India and Sri Lanka. The Nehru Stadium is yet to host any International test match.

The Nehru Stadium is located in Pune, in Maharashtra. Pune Airport is the nearest airport to the ground, which make airways an easy mode of transport for spectators and players visiting here. The nearest railway station to the stadium is the Pune Railway station. Thus, trains are even convenient for transportation purpose. Buses and cabs also serve as an important mode of transport.
