Pune Airport

Pune International Airport is located in Pune city in the state of Maharashtra. It caters to both domestic and international passenger traffic. It is also known as Lohegaon Airport and is operated by Airport Authority of India. It is also an Air Force Base operated by the Indian Air Force. How to Reach Pune Airport
Regular city buses ply to and from Pune airport. They are a cheap means of travel but take much time. Other convenient options include private cabs and autorickshaws. Cab takes Rs.400-500 for airport pickup and drop. Autorickshaws generally demand half return payment for going to airport, so its better to negotiate the deal.

Travelers should reach the international terminal at least 3 hours before the flight timings and domestic terminal at least 2 hours before flight timings to complete all formalities in time.

Airlines Operating from Pune Airport
Only two international airlines Air India and Lufthansa operate from Pune airport at present. There are Air India flights from Pune to Dubai for three days a week and Lufthansa flights from Pune to Frankfurt, Germany for six days a week.

All major domestic airlines like Air India, SpiceJet, IndiGo, Kingfisher Red, Jet Airways India, Go Air and Air India Express operate from here.

Expansion of Pune Airport
Airport Authority of India plans to expand Pune airport to cater to increasing demands of domestic and international traffic. Most of the expansion will be complete by 2009. Pune airport is small and currently hosts only 38 flights daily. Passenger load here is approx. 5,000. Airport recently got an additional departure terminal. New terminal has facilities such as escalators, conveyor belts and centralized air-conditioning. New arrival terminal is also on its way. New terminals will provide 12000 sq m space in addition to the present 6000 sq m. AAI will also add a new car parking to the airport. Aircraft parking space has also been increased to accommodate eight aircrafts. Two new passenger-boarding bridges will also be added.
