Recipe of Sweet Mango Chutney
- 2 raw mangoes
- A bunch of mint leaves
- 1 or 2 green chilies
- 2 tbsp of sugar
- Salt to taste
How to Make Sweet Mango Chutney:
Separate the mint leaves from the stalk and wash them properly in running water. Wash the raw mangoes, peel off their skin and cut them into small pieces. Care should be taken not to cut the hard seed of the fruit. Even a small portion of it can impart a bitter taste to the chutney.
Put mint leaves, mango pieces, chilies, salt and sugar in the blender and blend all the ingredients. Add some water to make the chutney smooth and consistent. Sweet mango chutney goes well with samosas, kachoris, medu bada and mirchi bada. In addition to snacks, the chutney also tastes equally good with dal, phulka roti, shimla mirch sabzi, aloo mutter sabzi and rice.
The taste of sweet mango chutney can be further enhanced by the addition of black salt. Roasted and grounded cumin seeds (jeera) and a pinch of asafoetida can also be added to perk up the taste. To give the sweet mango chutney a characteristic sharp taste, gur should be used instead of sugar. Apart from enhancing the taste of chutney, gur also provides nutritional benefits.
Sweet mango chutney is good for the treatment of indigestion, constipation, heat stroke, diarrhea and dysentery. Besides this, the chutney contains large amount of Vitamin C and Vitamin A together with minerals like Potassium and Copper.
