Udham Singh (born August 4,1928 – Died March 23, 2000)) used to be one of the finest hockey players from India. He was born on 4th August 1928 in Sansarpur in Punjab. Before making his International debut in hockey, he used play for the Punjab Police team. Due to a nagging finger injury Singh missed the 1948 Olympics.

He proved to be a key player in the Indian hockey team that won consecutive gold medals in the 1952 Helsinki and 1956 Melbourne. Udam Singh was the Coach of the Indian Hockey team that won a silver medal in the 1967 Olympics, which was held in London and 1970 Asian Games held in Bangkok. In 1965, he was awarded the Arjuna Award. Singh hold the record with Leslie Claudius in winning maximum number of Olympic medals ( 3 gold and a silver) in the Gunnies book of world Record.
